Our hens are raised in “safe-range” pasture in the middle of our farm. We built a raised open ended chicken coop that survived Hurricane Ian with minimal damage.
The “safe-range” concept are large fenced pasture sections on each end of the coop which is located in the center. The fenced pasture sections are also covered with a netting to protect our happy hens from the numerous birds of prey in our area. The hens are fed organic feed and have plentiful greens and bugs in the pastures. We even allow field trips for our hens to experience new pasture areas around the farm in a custom built portable chicken run.
